Chocolate (Green) Smoothie!

I’ve been eating way too many sweets lately (homemade chocolate chip vegan cookies will be the death of me). So I’ve been feeling a little more sluggish lately, and started to have a breakout for the first time since I started juicing my fruits and veggies. Usually I make a juice when I feel gross, but tonight I wanted something a bit more substantial. Thus, my favorite chocolate green smoothie! I’ve found the exact combination that allows me to fully enjoy it while also getting lots of goodness. 🙂

Chocolate-Kale Dessert Smoothie

3/4 cup almond milk
2 tbsps unsweetened cocoa powder
1-2 handfuls of kale (sometimes I use spinach. Usually 1.5 handfuls)
1 banana
1/2 cup frozen cherries
1 tbsp agave syrup
1 tbsp chia seeds (or flax seeds)
Handful of ice

To make: blend the kale in the milk. I start by pulsing a few times, then blending on low for about a minute and high for about a minute (I don’t like any chunks).

Add rest of ingredients, following the same pulse and blend method.

Enjoy! I love making this. I’m drinking it while taking an online quiz for my nutrition class, then time for yoga I’ve been having to put off all day!
